Lookupper Terms of Use

Please read these terms carefully before installing or using the Lookupper application (Windows and Mac) and the websites lookupper.ru and lookupper.com. By using the software or the websites, you agree to these terms regardless of whether you have purchased a Lookupper Pro license.

1. General

1.1. Lookupper software and related websites are owned by Aleksei Vekhov (hereinafter “Owner”).

1.2. These terms apply to both the free version of the software and Lookupper Pro.

1.3. Use is also governed by the Privacy Policy: https://lookupper.com/privacy.

2. License and Usage Model

2.1. Lookupper is distributed under a freemium model: the basic version is free, while advanced features require a Lookupper Pro license.

2.2. Purchasing a license grants the user the right to use Lookupper Pro under the license terms.

3. Registration and Account

3.1. Some features require user registration, which is done by purchasing a Lookupper Pro license.

3.2. Users are responsible for the security of their account credentials.

4. Personal Data

4.1. The Owner processes personal data according to the Privacy Policy.

4.2. Use of the software and websites implies consent to data processing and the Privacy Policy.

5. Updates and Changes

5.1. The Owner may provide updates to the software.

5.2. The User agrees that over time, older versions of the application or some features of older versions may stop working (due to OS updates, changes in technologies, protocols, or other reasons), and updating Lookupper to the current version may be required for proper operation.

6. Liability

6.1. The Owner guarantees that the distributed versions of Lookupper do not contain malicious code and are not intended to cause any harm to users’ devices.

6.2. The User agrees to download Lookupper only from official sources (lookupper.com, lookupper.ru, Microsoft Store, or Mac App Store) and not to use modified or pirated builds.

6.3. Lookupper uses artificial intelligence to produce translations, explanations and other text, both through online services and through models running on the User’s own device. Such output may be inaccurate, incomplete or misleading. The User should not rely on it without independent verification, and should not treat it as professional advice of any kind.

6.4. The models and providers behind these features may change at any time and without notice.

7. Intellectual Property

7.1. All rights belong to the Owner, except for the third-party components described in clause 7.2.

7.2. Lookupper includes and distributes software and models created by third parties. They remain the property of their respective owners and are used under their own licences. The full list, with copyright notices and licence texts, is available in the application: Settings → Lookupper → Third-party notices.

7.3. The offline translation engine is a modified version of Google TranslateGemma and is downloaded on request. It is provided under and subject to the Gemma Terms of Use (ai.google.dev/gemma/terms). By downloading or using it, the User accepts those terms and the Gemma Prohibited Use Policy (ai.google.dev/gemma/prohibited_use_policy), and undertakes not to use the model for any purpose those documents prohibit.

7.4. The User agrees not to remove, alter or obscure any copyright, trademark or licence notices contained in Lookupper or in its components, and not to use those components separately from Lookupper.

7.5. Components supplied by Microsoft Corporation are used under Microsoft’s own licence terms. The User’s rights to them are no broader than the rights granted by this agreement, and nothing in this agreement reduces the protection those terms afford Microsoft and its suppliers.

8. Termination

8.1. Users may stop using the software at any time.

8.2. The Owner may restrict access if terms are violated or abused.

9. Other Terms

9.1. If any provision is found invalid, the rest remain effective.

9.2. Disputes are resolved at the Owner’s place of registration.

9.3. The Owner reserves the right to modify these terms without notice.
